Okay so I did some research on this rule and the no white after labor day thing started in the 1900’s. Social acceptance for wealthy women was based on your outfit and what time of year you wore it. If you were “in fashion,” you only wore white during the warmer months.
By the 1950s, women’s magazines started making this “no white after Labor Day” rule well known, and like many old school rules this one has been passed down through the generations. Wearing white only between Memorial Day and Labor Day signified you were wealthy and on trend.
Well I say not anymore and so does this Fall collection of white boots, pants, bags you name it! I especially go by the most iconic fashionista Coco Chanel, who who insisted on sporting her bright, white outfits year-round. You go Coco!
