Let me just start off by saying I had literally NO upper lip, like non existent and my lip would disappear when I would smile.
The first time I had my lips done I was 23 years old and got a full syringe of Juvederm. I was not happy at all because they weren’t very full and didn’t realize you have to build your lips over time. I wanted Angelina Jolie lips right away.
So if you’re someone who has never had lip injections and thinking about getting them, just remember it takes time and several syringes to achieve the look you want. I got my lips done again maybe 2 years later and they were still pretty small.
I began working for a plastic surgeon when I was 25 and this opened a door to free access to all kinds of filler. Over the next 3 years I added probably 7 or 8 syringes of different fillers to my lips, which is a lot. I just kept getting them bigger and bigger and bigger.
When you work around plastics and injections all day you become desensitized to getting stuff done all the time, at least that is how it was for me.
After I met my husband and wasn’t working in plastics anymore I continued to get my lips filled but would jump around to different doctors because some would tell me no that I didn’t need anymore and refused to do it.
I didn’t realize how big they actually were until one day I was looking at pictures and decided I needed to make a consult to get veneers because you couldn’t see my teeth anymore when I smiled.
I realized it wasn’t my teeth being too small that was the problem, it was my lips were so full of filler they were covering up my teeth. My side profile was all lips and the filler started to migrate up above my lip kind of like a mustache, not cute.
I decided to remove the filler and start completely over. The way filler is removed is by injecting hyaluronidase into your lips and it dissolves the filler. I had to go through this process 3 separate times over a few months and let me tell you this shit hurts! Numbing cream doesn’t work with this solution for some reason and the whole time you’re getting stuck you’re thinking why did I do this to myself in the first place?
After the third treatment my lips looked like like they did before but stretched out. They looked great when I smiled though and I had multiple people ask me if I had gotten veneers. Hell yes win but when I didn’t smile it was not as great.
I slowly started to get my lips filled again starting with only half a syringe each time. I used Juvederm Ultra Plus and have built my lips back up super slowly. I have a syringe and a half in now and am very happy with it.
